Deadline Approaches for Harrow Residents to Influence Town Centre Plans

Harrow Town Centre

Harrow Council is urging residents to share their feedback on the proposed enhancements for Harrow Town Centre before the December 10th deadline. The council is seeking input on its £8.2 million development plans, which include improvements to key areas such as Greenhill Way, Kymberley Road, Clarendon Road, College Road, Pinner Road, and the Greenhill Way pedestrian underpasses, as well as Station Road.

Residents can voice their opinions through an online survey. The consultation aims to collect diverse viewpoints to shape the final proposals for the town center's enhancement. The council emphasizes that community input is vital in shaping the future of Harrow Town Centre.

Renewed Appeal for 1984 Barnet Murder Case: Police Seek Key Witness

Anthony Littler. Image: Met Police

In 1984, Anthony Littler, a 45-year-old man from Leslie Road, N2, was found murdered in Barnet. He had left East Finchley tube station around 12:15 am on May 1, 1984, and was discovered with severe head injuries in an alleyway known as ‘The Causeway’ behind the station. Despite a thorough investigation, the assailant or assailants and the motive for the murder remain unknown.

Police are now revisiting the case and seeking information about an assault that occurred in the same location two days prior to Littler's murder. This assault victim, who was never traced, came into Galleon Wine Stores on High Road, N2, with significant facial injuries, including a badly bruised black eye, after being attacked by two young people with a baseball bat near the East Finchley tube station. Police believe this victim might hold crucial information for the investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, leading the investigation, stresses the importance of any information, regardless of the time passed since the murder. Additionally, police are attempting to trace the individual who made the initial 999 call from a public phone box near the station.

Anthony’s cousin, Tricia McClure, described him as a lovely, kind, and gentle person. The family is hopeful that the renewed investigation will lead to justice and closure for Anthony

Farnham Town Falls Short in High-Scoring Clash with Rayners Lane

In a thrilling football match, Farnham Town faced a narrow defeat against Rayners Lane, exiting the Premier Challenge Cup with a scoreline of 5-4. Farnham Town manager Paul Johnson, despite the loss, expressed satisfaction with his team's performance, especially considering the nine changes he made to the starting lineup, including giving opportunities to development players Toby Sherman and Joe Goddard.

The game was a high-scoring affair, with Dean Rule of Farnham Town notably completing a hat-trick. However, Elliott Buchanan of Rayners Lane matched this feat, including a decisive penalty in the 85th minute. Johnson praised Rule's performance and noted the valuable experience gained by the younger players.

The match, while entertaining and full of goals, also resulted in injuries to Max Meaton and Joe Jackson of Farnham Town, though these are hoped to be minor. Farnham Town is set to return to action in the Combined Counties Premier Division South with an upcoming game against Redhill.
