Skimmington Ride Rocks Harrow: A Night of Folk Mayhem at McCafferty's Bar
Get ready for an exhilarating night of folk music with Skimmington Ride at McCafferty's Bar in Harrow on January 6, 2024. Known for their foot-stomping, energetic performances, Skimmington Ride promises a night filled with raucous tunes spanning various folk influences.
Expect a blend of styles from artists like Kelly, MacGowan, Bogle, and McColl. Dubbed as a "rumbustious night of Righteous Ruaille Buaille," the event is described with phrases like "a pirate's piss-up," "different gravy," "folk music but shouty," and "A Big Feck-Off Party." This event is a must-attend for those who enjoy lively, uproarious folk music.
National Chocolate Covered Cherry Day, celebrated on January 3, is a time to indulge in the delightful combination of cherries and chocolate. This confection, known also as cherry cordials, has a rich history dating back to the 1600s when European settlers brought cherries to America. The tradition of soaking cherries in cherry brandy (kirsch) and then coating them in chocolate began in England in the 1700s. This process was also adopted in France with their own version called Griottes. These treats became a staple in America, especially during holidays and special occasions. Over time, the alcohol content was removed, leading to the mass production of non-alcoholic chocolate-covered cherries in 1929. Today, these cherries are enjoyed in various forms, including dark, milk, and white chocolate varieties, and continue to be a popular treatββ.
