JFS Student's Death Linked to Cyberbullying and Mockery in School Chat Group
The inquest into the death of Mia Janin, a 14-year-old student at Jewish Free School, revealed she was a victim of cyberbullying. Mia was mocked in a Snapchat group chat by schoolboys who also shared inappropriate content. The situation escalated following negative reactions to her TikTok video after returning to school post-Covid restrictions. Mia had expressed a desire to change schools the day before her death. The school claimed unawareness of the group chat's existence prior to the incident.
Commuters Face Travel Chaos as GTR Strike Halts North London Trains
Govia Thameslink Railway services in North London face major disruptions due to a strike by the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen. Key stations will not have train services on January 30, with limited shuttle services for airport travel. An ongoing overtime ban further reduces train availability from January 29 to February 6.
Volunteers Spearhead Silk Stream Restoration in North London
The Action for Silk Stream project, involving volunteers and several councils and agencies, is making significant progress in cleaning and restoring the Silk Stream in North London. This effort aims to reduce flooding, improve water quality, and enhance local biodiversity.
