Harrow Council Proposes Preservation Areas in West Harrow and Pinner

Harrow Council has proposed two new Local Areas of Special Character (LASC) in West Harrow and Pinner. These areas, including Butler Avenue, Lance Road, West End Avenue, and others, aim to preserve historical interest and architectural quality. A six-week consultation period will allow residents to provide feedback. LASCs offer protection from inappropriate developments while maintaining the area's character.

Man Arrested for Illegal Advertising in Harrow Town Centre

A man was arrested in Harrow Town Centre for distributing illegal advertising cards promoting prostitution. The arrest was part of ‘Operation Nightingale’ led by Greenhill Safer Neighbourhood Officers. The suspect was found placing cards in various locations and had a significant number of illicit cards on him. He was remanded to court and sentenced to a community order with 300 hours of unpaid work.

Harrow Nursery Rated Inadequate by Ofsted Over Safety Concerns

Jigsaw Nursery in Hatch End, Harrow, was rated 'inadequate' by Ofsted due to significant safety concerns. Inspectors found the front door left open and unsupervised children climbing stairs. The report highlighted poor risk assessment, inadequate supervision, and insufficient support for children with special educational needs. The nursery has adopted an action plan to address these issues, including staff training on safeguarding and risk assessment. Harrow Council will work with the nursery to implement improvements.
