Champions League Final Sees Multiple Arrests at Wembley
The Metropolitan Police arrested 53 people after the Champions League final at Wembley Stadium. Most arrests were due to attempted unauthorized entry. Five individuals were detained for pitch invasion, causing a delay shortly after kick-off. Additional arrests occurred at various protests in Central London, with individuals linked to football disorder and other offenses.
Rooks Heath School Praised for Diverse Community and Strong Leadership
Rooks Heath Secondary School in South Harrow received a 'Good' rating from Ofsted following an inspection in March. The report praised the schoolβs diverse community, improved behaviour, and ambitious curriculum. The school also offers a range of extra-curricular activities and focuses on personal development and career guidance. Headteacher Miriam Manderson and the leadership team were commended for their effective management and plans for future improvements.
Harrow Hosts Free Digital Skills Workshops for Entrepreneurs
The London Borough of Harrow will host free digital skills bootcamps starting June 29, 2024, at Harrow College. These bootcamps, in collaboration with Enterprise Nation, aim to help local businesses enhance their online presence and sales through SEO, social media content creation, and e-commerce. Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the program is open to all businesses in Harrow.
Harrow Among Top Five Least Affordable Rental Areas in London
Enfield has been identified as one of the least affordable areas in London for renters, with tenants spending 48.65% of their take-home pay on rent, compared to the national average of 38%. The average monthly rent in Enfield is Β£1,063, making it the second least affordable area after Barnet.
The report by Canopy also highlights the financial pressures renters face, making it harder to save for homeownership. Chris Hutchinson, CEO of Canopy, emphasized the need for further regulation to stabilize prices but warned of potential disincentives for landlords.
Guide to Rights and Responsibilities in Renting and Letting
Renting or letting a property comes with various rights and responsibilities for both tenants and landlords. Key issues include managing mould and damp, ensuring property security to prevent break-ins, and maintaining the property's structure and systems. Landlords face fines for neglecting serious health and safety issues, while tenants must take care of the property and report repairs promptly. Clear communication and understanding legal obligations are essential for smooth tenancies.
